1. Starter: Characteristics of a Civilization Quiz

2. Review Symbolic Illustration Expectations:
  • Remember that our big idea is structure and we are beginning our investigation into how civilizations are structured. 
  • With your partner, brainstorm a way you can visually represent the big idea of structure, as well as the characteristics of a civilization. 
  • I should be able to look at your illustration and understand all the elements every civilization possesses. 
  • Use poster paper. 
  • Make it colorful and detailed!
GRADING CHECKLIST:


25 POINTS - Incorporates STRUCTURE
30 POINTS - Clear communication of characteristics
15 POINTS - Symbolic
15 POINTS - Creative 
15 POINTS - Colorful & Neat 


3. Symbolic Illustration: Work with your partner on your poster. Your goal is to complete the poster by the end of class.

4. Akkadian & Babylonian Research: 
  • Conduct research to complete the Civilization Research Chart in your World History Handouts folder (Google Drive) for each civilization: the Akkadians & the Babylonians.
  • Use the textbook (pg. 37) and reliable web resources to find information about each characteristic of a civilization. 
  • Save the charts in your World History folder in your Google Drive. Be sure to share this folder with me.
5. Ticket Out the Door: List 2 facts you learned this week that you found interesting and one facts you found confusing or uninteresting.
